Access is limited because of the summer camp. The general public DOES NOT HAVE ACCESS to buildings, the obstacle course and playground equipment on the day following the St-Jean-Baptiste holiday until mid-August, Monday to Friday 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Limited access from June 25 to mid-August

During this period, visitors can only park and access the trails.

For the schedule outside the day camp, as well as rules and ongoing daily and seasonal rates, visit the “Plan your visit” section.

COVID-19

Due to COVID-19, various recommendations were issued by the Lifesaving Society Canada and the Association des responsables aquatiques du Québec.

1. A distance of 2 metres between participants must be respected at all times. As a result, the number of people in the pool will be limited.

2. Prohibition of access to aquatic facilities for swimmers with COVID-19 symptoms

3. Hygiene and distancing measures
• Wearing a mask is strongly recommended if the distance of 2 m cannot be respected. The mask should not be worn in the pool.
• Stay within 2 metres in an outside of the pool
• Avoid touching your face
• Sneeze and cough in your elbow
• Discard your tissues after use
• Use alcohol-based disinfectant and wash your hands frequently.


4. Levels of disinfectants used to treat water in public pools and spas, as prescribed in provincial regulations, are meant to inactivate coronaviruses such as SARS-CoV-2

5. People 65 years of age and older are not advised to participate in organized activities.

6. Only washrooms will be accessible, it is recommended that the participant arrive wearing their bathing suit under their clothes.

7. It is recommended that the bather bring their identified water bottle; it will not be possible to drink directly from the water fountain.

Preschool and junior level swimming lessons

Classes are held Saturday and Sunday at the pool in Parc nature les Forestiers-de-Saint-Lazare, located at 2800 Chemin Lotbinière, the week of June 28th.

Registration online starting on Thursday, April 1st, 8 a.m.

COVID-19

Preschool level

Since every level of the preschool program centres around age-specific guidelines based on certain characteristics of child development, you must register your child for the level that corresponds to his/her age, when you feel he/she is ready for that particular level.

PRE-REQUISITES:

If this is the first time your child takes Red Cross swimming lessons (and wishes to sign up for the following classes) he/she will be assessed during the placement test held on Saturday, June 12 from 9:00 a.m. to noon:

  • Sea Otter
  • Salamander
  • Sunfish
  • All junior levels

Preshool levels (download the prerequisites here) normally offered

In the event of any differences in translations or interpretations, the French version shall prevail.

Junior levels

Since the program is designed according to skills acquired in the previous level, it is essential that children successfully fulfill the requirements (skills and knowledge) of every level.  

  • Completion of a preschool level class is not required for registration in Junior 1.

  • Perform flutter kick by sliding on front and back
  • Swim 5 meters continuously, unassisted

Planned schedule (2 options): Saturday 8:45 to 9:15 a.m. OR Sunday, noon to 12:30 p.m.

Junior 3

Successful completion of Crocodile Level OR Junior 2 OR …

  • Be comfortable in deep water,
  • Perform rhythmic breaths – 10 repetitions
  • Swim the crawl with kick for 5 meters
  • Swim 10 meters continuously, unassisted
  • (Parent participation required in the pool)
Planned schedule (2 options): Saturday. 9:30 to 10 a.m. OR Sunday, 10 to 10:30 a.m.

Junior 4

Successful completion of Whale Level OR Junior 3 OR …

  • Swim crawl for at least 5 meters with arms covered above water
  • Swim 15 meters continuously, unassisted
  • (Parent participation required in the pool)

Planned schedule (2 options): Saturday, 10:15 to 11 a.m. OR Sunday, 10:45 to 11:30 a.m.

Junior 5

Succesful completion of Junior 4

  • Maintain at water surface for 45 seconds
  • Swim crawl and back crawl for a minimum of 10 meters
  • Swim back crawl with kick for at least 10 meters
  • Swim 25 meters continuously, unassisted

Planned schedule (2 options): Saturday, 11 to 11:45 a.m. OR Sunday, 11:45 to 12:30 p.m.

Junior 6

Successful completion of Junior 5

  • Swim crawl and back crawl for a minimum of 15 meters
  • Be able to do the whip kick while swimming on your back for a minimum of 5 meters
  • Perform a dive in the kneeling start position
  • Swim 50 meters continuously, unassisted

Planned schedule (2 options): Saturday, noon to 12:45 p.m. OR Sunday, 9:45 to 10:30 a.m.

Outdoor enthusiasts? Experienced walkers? Looking for a new place to walk with your family and enjoy the great outdoors? Saint-Lazare invites you to conquer the trails of les Forestiers-de-Saint-Lazare nature park, while combining the useful with the pleasant, either by taking part in one of 3 rallies composed of enigmas to be elucidated:
