Outdoor enthusiasts? Experienced walkers? Looking for a new place to walk with your family and enjoy the great outdoors? Saint-Lazare invites you to conquer the trails of les Forestiers-de-Saint-Lazare nature park, while combining the useful with the pleasant, either by taking part in one of 3 rallies composed of enigmas to be elucidated:

Obstacle course and playground module

Access is limited because of the summer camp. The general public DOES NOT HAVE ACCESS to buildings, the obstacle course and playground equipment on the day following the St-Jean-Baptiste holiday until mid-August, Monday to Friday 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Limited access from June 25 to mid-August

During this period, visitors can only park and access the trails.

For the schedule outside the day camp, as well as rules and ongoing daily and seasonal rates, visit the “Plan your visit” section.

Aquafitness and aquastroller classes

Details

Aquafitness and aquastroller classes take place on weekdays’ mornings, from July to August. The pool is heated.

 

REGISTRATION

Residents: Registration for swimming classes begins on Wednesday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m., online. The Saint-Lazare Access Card is mandatory for residents of Saint-Lazare and Les Cèdres. Our teams will be available to assist you in the registration process, during business hours, at 450 424-8000 ext 220.

Non-resident: starting May 2, 8 a.m., until May 31, 2022.

Swimming classes take place on Saturday and Sunday morning, from June 27 to August 21,in our heated pool. Depending on the level, parents may be requested to be in the water with their children.

REQUIREMENTS AND SCHEDULE

Starfish :

  • Saturday, 8 to 8:30 a.m.
  • Sunday, 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. – FULL
  • From 4 to 12 months
  • With the participation of parents in the pool, progression is based on age. Babies should be able to hold their heads upright.
  • Babies and their caregivers work on getting wet, buoyancy and movement, front, back and vertical position in the water, and shallow water entries and exits.

 

 

Duck:

  • Saturday, 8 :30 to 9 a.m. – FULL
  • From 12 to 24 months
  • With the participation of parents in the pool, progression is based on age.
  • Babies and their caregivers work on rhythmic breathing, moving forward and backward, front and back float with recovery, and shallow water entries and exits. 

 

 

 

Turtle:

  • Saturday, 11:30 to noon – FULL
  • Sunday, 8:45 to 9:15 am. – FULL
  • From 24 to 36 months
  • With the participation of parents in the pool, progression is based on age.
  • Toddlers and their caregivers work on submersion, front and back floats and glides, jumping into chest-deep water with assistance, kicking on front and front swim.

 

 

Sea otter :

  • Sunday, 10 :45 to 11 :15 a.m. – FULL
  • Sunday, 12 :45 to 1 :15 p.m. – FULL
  • From 3 to 5 years old
  • With the participation of parents in the pool, progression is based on age.
  • Swimmers work on front and back floats and glides, kicking on front with a buoyant object, and will be able to swim1 metre upon completion of this level. 

 

 

Salamander:

  • Saturday, 11 to 11:30 a.m. – FULL
  • Sunday, 9 :45 to 10:15 a.m. – FULL
  • From 3 to 5 years old
  • With the participation of parents in the pool, progression is based on age.
  • Swimmers work on improving theirfront and back float and jumpinginto chest-deep water unassisted. Kicking is added to the front and back glide and swimmers will be able to swim 2 metres upon completion.
  • This class follows Sea Otter and precedes Sunfish.

 

 

Sunfish:

  • Saturday, 10 :30 to 11 a.m. – FULL
  • Sunday, 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. – FULL
  • From 3 to 6 years old
  • With the participation of parents in the pool (to be confirmed in light of the sanitary measures related to COVID). Progression is based on age.
  • Swimmers work on kicking and can perform glides (front and back), enter deep water safely, float in deep water, swim with a Personal Floating Device (PFD), and swim 5 metres continuously. 

 

Junior 1:

  • Saturday, 9 to 9:30 a.m. – FULL
  • Saturday, 10 to 10:30 a.m. – FULL
  • Sunday, 11:15 to 11 :45 a.m. – FULL
  • From 5 years old
  • With the participation of parents in the pool (to be confirmed in light of the sanitary measures related to COVID)
  • Swimmers receive an orientation to water and pool area and work on floats, glides and kicking. Swimmers build their endurance by working on the 5 metres front swim.

 

 

Junior 2:

  • Saturday, 12 to 12:30 p.m. – FULL
  • Sunday, 10:15 to 10:45 p.m. – FULL
  • Requirement: successful completion of skills in Junior 1 or Sunfish
  • With the participation of parents in the pool (to be confirmed in light of the sanitary measures related to COVID )
  • Swimmers work on propulsion skills to move through the water and to remain at surface while doing front, back and side glides. Swimmers work on front swim, and learn about deep-water activities and the proper use of Personal Floating Device (PFD) Perform a 10 metres swim.     

 

Junior 3:

  • Saturday, 9:30 to 10 a.m. – FULL
  • Sunday, 1a :45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. – FULL
  • Requirement: successful completion of skills in Junior 2 or Crocodile
  • With the participation of parents in the pool (to be confirmed in light of the sanitary measures related to COVID)
  • Swimmers increase their distance on front, back and Swimmers receive an orientation to water and pool area and work on floats, glides and kicking. Swimmers build their endurance by working on the 5 metres front swim, side glide with kick, increase distance on front and back swim, learn the sitting dive and will be able to swim 15 metres continuously upon completion of level.

 

 

Junior 4:

  • Saturday, 12 :30 to 1 :15 p.m. 
  • Sunday, 8 to 8 :45 a.m.
  • Requirement: successful completion of skills in Junior 3 or Whale
  • With the participation of parents in the pool (to be confirmed in light of the sanitary measures related to COVID)
  • Swimmers learns back swim and front crawl (10m), work on flutter kick on back, perform kneeling dive, introduction to sculling and can swim 25 metres continuously. 

 

 

Junior 5:

  • Sunday, 9 :30 to 10:15 a.m. – FULL
  • Requirement: successful completion of skills in Junior 4
  • Swimmers develop front crawl (15m), learn back crawl (15m) and whip kick on back, learn stride dive and treading water, perform head-first sculling on back, and swim 50 meters continuously.

 

Junior 6:

  • Saturday, 10:45 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Requirement: successful completion of skills in Junior 5
  • Swimmers increase their distance on front and back crawl (25m) , learn elementary back stroke and the dolphin kick. They also swim 75 meters continuously. 

 

 

Junior 7-8:

  • Sunday, 8 :15 to 9 a.m. – FULL
  • Requirement: successful completion of skills in Junior 6 or 7
  • Junior 7: Swimmers increase their distance on front and back crawl (50m) and elementary back stroke (25m). They learn front scull and stride entry. Perform whip kick onfront and the dolphin kick. They also swim 150meters continuously Junior 8: Front crawl, back crawl and elementary backstroke to be refined They learn breast stroke, eggbeater/tread water, feet-first surface dive and standing shallow dive. Swim 300 meters continuously 

 

 

Junior 9-10 :

  • Saturday, 8:30 to 9 :15 a.m.
  • Requirement: successful completion of skills in Junior 8 or 9.
  • Junior 9 : Front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke and breaststroke continue to be refined.Learn side stroke kick and head-first surface dive. Swim 400 meters continuouslyJunior 10 : Further refinement of strokes. They learn side stroke, dolphin kick (vertical), and feet-and head-first surface dives with underwater swim. Swim 500 meters continuously.

Opening/closure:

The Nature Park will close the pool if  1) Outdoor weather is under 18 degrees celcius  2) There is 90% chance or more of rain for 60% of the swimming period  3) lightning

An update of the Parc Nature les Forestiers Facebook page will be published daily by the lifeguards to keep you informed of the condition of the pool (open/closed) according to the weather.
